Confidence Codes
Code | Name | Definition |
IGI | inferred from genetic interaction | This evidence code is used in those cases where an annotation is supported by any genetic experiments, such as mutation of a gene product, functional complementation, rescue experiment, etc. |
IPI | inferred from physical interaction | This evidence code is used in those cases where an annotation is supported by experiments such as 2-hybrid interaction, co-purification, or co-immunoprecipitation. |
ISS | inferred from sequence similarity | This evidence code is used in those cases where an annotation is inferred by sequence similarity, recognized domain, or structural similarity, and the results must be reviewed by curators. |
IDA | inferred from direct assay | This evidence code is used in those cases where an annotation is supported by direct assys, including enzyme assays, immunofluorescence, cell fraction, in vitro transcription, or physical interaction/binding assays. |
IEP | inferred from expression pattern | This evidence code is used in those cases where an annotation is inferred from the timing or location of expression of a gene. |
IEA | inferred from electronic annotation | This evidence code is used in those cases where an annotation is not reviewed by curator and is based on "hits" in sequence similarity, or transfered from database records. It is usually used for annotations directly from computation or automated data transfer. |
TAS | traceable author statement | This evidence code is used in those cases where an annotation is based on review articles, textbooks, or dictionaries. |
NAS | non-traceable author statement | This evidence code is used in those cases where an annotation is based on statements in papers that a curator can't trace to a publication, or certain database entriesthat don't cute a paper. |
ND | no biological data available | This evidence code is used for annotations of "unknown" molecular function or biological process. |
IC | inferred by curator | This evidence code is used for those cases where an annotation is not supported by any evidence, but can be reasonably inferred by a curator from other PANTHER annotations, for which evidence is available. |
IMP | inferred from mutant phenotype | This evidence code is used for those cases where an annotation is concluded from looking at mutations or abnormal levels of the product(s) only of the gene of interest . |
RCA | inferred from reviewed computational analysis | This evidence code is used for those cases where an annotation is based on a non-sequence-based computational method, where the results have been reviewed by an author or a curator |
