Pathway Component Details
Name: Platelet-Derived Growth Factor B (PDGF receptor B)
Definition: PDGF(platelet-derived growth factor) receptor is a member of the family of transmembrane receptors with kinase activity which exists two distinct subunits, alpha-PDGF receptor and beta-PDGF receptor. These receptors differ in their affinity for the PDGF-A and PDGF-B chain The alpha-receptor recognizes only PDGF-A chain, but the beta-receptor recognizes PDGF-B as well as PDGF-A chains. Binding of PDGF requires and results in the dimerization of the two receptors that form three distinct receptor patterns(alpha-alpha, alpha-beta, beta-beta).
