| Definition: | G protein-coupled receptor kinase 6 (GRK6) shares 70% amino acid identity with GRK5. It is a widely expressed serine-threonine kinase that phosphorylates many seven transmembrane receptors (7TMRs, also known as GPCRs), leading to desensitization of the receptor. GRK6 activity has been reported to be required for chemokine-induced lymphocyte migration. GRK6-dependent receptor phosphorylation of the vasopressin V2 (V2R) and the angiotensin II type 1a (AT1aR) receptors appears to regulate b-arrestin-dependent extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) signaling transduced by these receptors. |
